The following are simple definitions used in the Assessment Logic™ web site.
Assessment Point: An activity such as a test, lab, performance, speech, or essay that program faculty have designated as appropriate for use in determining whether students are meeting program objectives.
Goal: A general statement of something that students in a particular subject area should know or be able to do.
Objective: A specific statement about what students who complete a program should be able to do.
Indicator: Describes a specific knowledge or skill that a student must demonstrate in order to meet an objective.
Program: A particular curriculum leading to a degree or licensure. Often a subject area includes more than one program.
Subject Area: A field of study like English, music, or psychology.
